NBA
ON TNT
We shot this
open for the NBA on TNT in the Egyptian Ballroom at the Fox
Theater in downtown Atlanta, which was quite a challenge due
to the restrictions placed on the room by the historic preservation
society. Unable to even touch any part of the walls or ceiling,
we built a large truss system for all the rigging needed for
the shoot. With this in place, we filled the room with over
a hundred swing dancers and a crew of over fifty.
Our approach for this spot was to
create the feel of a big "event" similar to that
of Monday night football. We wanted to capture the excitement
and thrill of the games and in doing so capture the attention
of a younger demographic-we feel that the party atmosphere
of the piece does just that.
Featuring the swing band, Big Bad
Vodoo Daddy, we shot the open like a music video, using a
multi-camera set-up including a Steadi-cam and crane.
